Internships
Illinois EPA offers a variety of internships for students that are looking for experience working with a state agency coming from a diverse range of backgrounds, including environmental sciences, engineering, communications, public health, political science, and more. We encourage anyone interested to view our internship opportunities and consider filling out any open applications!
While some of our internship opportunities are posted on our employment page, we also recruit interns from the Graduate Public Service Internship (GPSI) Program and the Michael Curry Summer Internship Program.
The GPSI Program is available to graduate students at the University of Illinois Springfield seeking paid, year-round work to complement their studies and expose them to working in one of many participating state agencies. Applications close in spring for internships that begin the following fall, so be sure to explore these opportunities early. The Michael Curry Summer Internship Program is a statewide program offered by the Office of the Governor that is open to Illinois residents that can provide a college transcript. Interns receive a stiped for around 10 weeks of work during the summer and have the opportunity to apply to three positions at participating state agencies. Applications often open and close around February and March for positions seeking interns the coming summer.
