National Response Center-(800) 424-8802
Mission of the Office of Emergency Response
Protect the health and safety of the citizens of Illinois during emergency incidents involving the release of oil, hazardous material or other contaminants, while stabilizing, minimizing or eliminating the environmental consequences to the land, air or waters of the state.
State On Scene Coordinator
State On Scene Coordinators (SOSC), coordinate Illinois EPA’s response to environmental emergencies involving oil or hazardous materials and ensure that any environmental contamination is cleaned up. SOSCs work with other response agencies including the Illinois Emergency Management Agency-Office of Homeland Security, which is the initial contact for responses to an emergency or disaster in Illinois.
The Illinois EPA takes pollution complaints seriously and is committed to responding to complaints as quickly as possible. By using the Illinois EPA online complaint form process, your complaint can be received and the investigation process begun much more quickly than sending a complaint through the mail.
The Illinois EPA receives pollution complaints on many subjects, including: open dumping of garbage/construction debris, odor complaints from industrial/agricultural facilities, and illegal discharges into streams/rivers or other threats to public health and the environment.
