Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program

The Illinois Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program creates long-term sustainability and energy reduction roadmaps and reduce energy use for Illinois municipalities and counties. The second round of available funding will invest in energy planning. Match is not required. Eligible applicants are awarded funding based on a comprehensive, merit-based review. Awards will range from $25,000 to $150,000. Municipalities and counties eligible for direct formula funding through the U.S. DOE are not eligible for funding through this state program. Applications are due by June 17, 2024 by 5:00 pm

 

Energy Efficiency Assessment Program

The Energy Efficiency Assessment Program provides grant funding to public housing authorities, local governments (municipalities, counties, or townships), or nonprofit organizations to conduct energy efficiency assessments at eligible properties. Eligible properties must be single family or duplex residences located in an area of environmental justice concern and benefiting residents receiving housing assistance from a state or federal program. Applications will be accepted until all funding has been expended. Awards will range from $5,000 to $25,000.

 

Energy Efficiency Trust Fund Grant Program 

The Energy Efficiency Trust Fund Grant Program awards funding to public housing authorities, units of local government (municipalities, counties, or townships), or nonprofit organizations for implementation of energy efficiency improvements benefitting residents receiving housing assistance from a state or federal program. Eligible applicants include single family or duplex residential properties located in an area of environmental justice concern; energy efficiency projects between $25,000 to $500,000; and an energy audit completed within the last 5 years. Match is required. Eligible applicants are awarded funding on a first come, first serve basis.  

 

Public Water Supply Energy Efficiency Grant Program 

The Public Water Supply (PWS) Energy Efficiency (EE) Grant Program provides funding for energy efficiency upgrads at public water supply facilities, also referred to as drinking water treatment plants. Awards will range from $20,000 to $500,000. Projects must reduce the amount of energy consumed by the water treatment operations and must be identified in an energy efficiency assessment completed within the last 5 years. Match is required. The application period is currently closed.

IL Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Programs 

Equitable Energy Future Grant ProgramProvides front-loaded funding of up to $1 million to support development of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, businesses, community organizations, and job creation benefitting historically disadvantaged populations. Rolling application period. 

IL Power Agency Solar Programs 

Illinois Solar for All Illinois Shines
Illinois Solar for all is a State incentive program that brings the benefits of solar energy to income-eligible households, non-profit organizations, and public facilities. Eligible participants can receive affordable solar installations, subscribe to community solar projects, and save money on electric bills. 

Illinois Shines is a State incentive program that supports the development of new solar projects. Illinosi Shines incentives make installing solar more affordable and offer other ways to save without solar installations, like subscribing to community solar projects. 

There are no income qualifications for this Program.
