Geographic Information System (GIS) Data
A geographic information system (GIS) is a system for capturing, storing, analyzing and managing data and associated attributes which are spatially referenced to the earth. In the strictest sense, it is a computer system capable of integrating, storing, editing, analyzing, sharing, and displaying geographically-referenced information. In a more generic sense, GIS is a tool that allows users to create interactive queries (user created searches), analyze the spatial information, edit data, maps, and present the results of all these operations.
Potable Water Supply Well Survey GIS Data
In order to meet the regulatory requirements set forth in 35 Illinois Administrative Code (Ill. Adm. Code) 732.300(b)(1)(A)(1) and (2), 35 Ill. Adm. Code 734.445(a)(1) and (2), 35 Ill. Adm. Code 1600.210(b)(1) and (2), and any other rules or regulations requiring a Potable Water Supply Well Survey, the Bureau of Land accepts the use of the Source Water Assessment Program for identification of potable water supply wells in lieu of contacting the following:
- Illinois EPA, Division of Water Supplies,
- Illinois State Geological Survey,
- Illinois State Water Survey, and
- Illinois Department of Public Health.
Please be reminded that local water supply and public health entities must still be contacted in performance of the well survey.
