Water Quality Grants
The Bureau of Water manages several programs that offer grants to help implement local water projects. Below is a description of those programs.
Grants
- Green Infrastructure Grant Opportunities - The Green Infrastructure Grant Opportunities Program provides funding opportunities for projects to construct green infrastructure best management practices (BMPs) that prevent, eliminate, or reduce water quality impairments by decreasing stormwater runoff into Illinois' rivers, streams, and lakes. BMPs may be located on both public or private land.
- Nonpoint Source Grants - Grants are available to local units of government and other organizations to protect water quality in Illinois. Projects must address water quality issues relating directly to nonpoint source pollution.
- Overflow and Sewer Grant (OSG) Program - The Overflow and Sewer Grant (OSG) Program seeks to address local governments' infrastructure needs for Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO), Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO), and stormwater management.
- Gulf Hypoxia Program (GHP) Priority Watershed Implementation Grants - Grants are available to individuals, small businesses, others, government organizations, education organizations, nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations, etc., to implement edge-of-field control projects to prevent, eliminate, or reduce nitrate loads to Illinois’ surface waters that serve as public water supply sources.
