Manufacturers
The Consumer Electronics Recycling Act requires manufacturers who sell or offer for sale covered electronic devices (CEDs) to:
- Register by April 1 of preceding year by submitting a registration form and fee to Illinois EPA
- Provide an annual e-waste program that transports and recycles residential CEDs that are collected from program collection sites and one-day events
- Submit an annual program plan to Illinois EPA by July 1
- Submit Manufacturer's Transportation & Recycling Report by March 1 of following year

- Electronic Keyboards, Mice, & Peripherals
- Printers, Fax Machines, and Scanners,
- Televisions,
- DVD Players, DVD Recorders, and VCRs,
- Digital Converter Boxes, Cable Receivers, & Satellite Receivers,
- Portable Digital Music Players and Video Game Consolesm and
- Home Audio Components
Notice
Effective January 1, 2026, the Consumer Electronics Recycling Act (CERA) expands its scope to include peripherals and home audio components as covered electronic devices, requiring registration and prohibiting their disposal in landfills.
