Procedures for Determining Soil Remediation Objectives for Chemicals Not Listed in TACO Regulations

  • Soil remediation objectives for the residential and industrial/commercial receptors for direct contact exposures should use the toxicity data and chemical/physical data listed in the USEPA Regional Screening Level (RSL) tables (https://www.epa.gov/risk/regional-screening-levels-rsls). Calculations listed in 35 IAC Part 742 should be used for determining the objectives.

  • Soil remediation objectives for the construction worker receptor should use the chemical/physical data listed in the RSL tables and the subchronic reference doses and subchronic reference concentrations listed in the Illinois EPA table provided at http://www.epa.illinois.gov/topics/cleanup-programs/taco/index. The data contained in this table are compiled from the RSL construction worker calculator and are being provided due to the fact that these data are not provided in table format within the RSL website. Construction worker calculations listed in 35 IAC Part 742 should be used for determining the objectives.

  • Soil remediation objectives for the soil component of the groundwater ingestion exposure route should be calculated using the calculations listed in 35 IAC Part 742 and the Class I and Class II groundwater objectives provided at http://www.epa.illinois.gov/topics/cleanup-programs/taco/index.
